Let us lend a fresh perspective to your mixes and bring out the best in your music.

MIXING EXAMPLES

A good mix will feature the elements that make the song stand out. Sometimes when you've been living and breathing your songs for an extended time, it's easy to lose sight of just what defines the essence of your song.

Mixing is frequently an editorial process. As is often the case, you may have grown attached to certain sounds simply because of the time you've invested in recording them; but a great track can be more effective when it only happens at certain points rather than throughout the song.

Whether you are halfway around the world or right around the corner, you can take advantage of the opportunity to compare the sound of the mixes before and after we apply our perspective. Because we provide a log of each change we make, it's easy to listen to differences as we progress.  The comparison can be a great learning experience for you.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Digital Performer™

If you're using Digital Performer to mix, then simply burn the project data to CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Make sure the plug-ins you are currently using in the mix are the same as the ones on our system. Since we also do beta testing for many of the major plug-in developers, it's likely that our plug-ins will be the same.

Protools™, Logic™ , Cubase™, Sonar™, Nuendo™, etc.

If your digital audio workstation software has the ability to create OMF or AAF files, please choose one of those file formats to export. After exporting, you can either upload the file via our FTP site or burn a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. If you don't have OMF/AAF export capability, then you can merge all the edits in each track so that each track consists of a single contiguous file. That way, we're able to do our job because each part starts at the same exact time.

Stand-alone digital workstations

There is no easy way to export the track data from many stand alone digital workstations. The most straightforward approach is to digitally transfer multiple tracks simultaneously into a computer in real-time. This can be accomplished using Tascam TDIF outputs or the more common ADAT LightPipe™ optical outputs. We have the ability to transfer up to 24 tracks simultaneously using either TDIF or LightPipe™.

COSTS

Before any commitments are made for mixing an album, we always start with one song. This gives everyone an idea of the time involved and the quality of the results. The feedback you give us on this first mix also helps to set the course for mixing the rest of the album.

Our rate for mixing is $50 per hour. The time required to mix a song depends on a number of factors such as: the number of tracks, the length of the song, the quality of the recording, and the need for automation.

Services must be paid for when rendered.
